Ms. Rock joined HRA in September of 2004. A former Psychiatric and
Administrative Nurse, Ms. Rock has spent the past 16 years of her career
developing process improvement efforts within the managed care and research
administration industries. Prior to joining HRA she served as the Director
of Clinical Trials Administration at City of Hope National Medical Center
and Performance Improvement / Clinical Effectiveness Consultant for UCLA
Healthcare.
Denise Deack, one of the pillars of Health Research Association, has been here since 1989 and currently her primary responsibility is to interact with Principal Investigators, Project Administrators/Coordinators and external funding agencies in the negotiation of Clinical Trial Agreements and Budgets for industry sponsored research. Denise has a wide range of skills and with her vast experience is well versed in most of the operational aspects of the organization.
Arlayn is a seasoned negotiator, who joined the HRA team in November 2007. Formerly, she was employed at Amgen where she excelled rapidly and was promoted to lead a team of six within a year of employment. She prides herself on providing mentorship to team members and/or co-workers. Prior to Amgen, Arlayn negotiated entertainment contracts for the television and music industries for approximately 10 years. At HRA she will (a) continue to provide mentorship and management; (b) partake in the negotiation of clinical research agreements and budgets; (c) serve as a liaison between the Q/A and contracts departments and (d) contribute her skills and experience where required. Arlayn holds a Juris Doctorate Degree and a B.S. in Psychology and English.
Dee Ann Tumbuan is a Grants & Contracts Assistant at HRA who began serving the clinical research community in 2003. Her primary role is to review and negotiate industry sponsored trials’ contracts and budgets. She also serves the LAC+USC Medical Center by providing detailed and diligent assistance to Investigators and their staff on contracts prior to execution.
Teresa has served HRA’s Grants & Contracts Department since 2002. Her role is to review and negotiate industry sponsored clinical trials contracts and budgets.
Bobby has been an employee of HRA’s since 1997. He worked for 20 years as a project coordinator and Q/A Q/C coordinator for various research projects over the years. In November 2007, he joined our Office of Contracts Administration and brings real world experience regarding project implementation and management to our contracts office. He will be reviewing and negotiating contracts for new clinical trials.
Brenda Qualls joined the HRA team in May of 2006. Brenda brings with her over 6 years of experience in office administration. Her current role as Administrative Assistant to the Office of Contracts Administration includes the set up of new clinical trials projects, data management and obtaining signatures for clinical trials contracts.
