Raphael “Wes” Scott joined the HRA/IDS Pharmacy Team as a part-time back-up pharmacist in June of 2008 after a 37-year career as a clinical pharmacist at the LAC+USC Medical Center following graduation from USC in 1971. In August of 2009, he became the Pharmacist-in-charge and, as such, is responsible for all activities related to the expeditious handling of investigational drugs---ordering, receiving, storing, dispensing---in a manner consistent with approved policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws. Mr. Scott also confers with drug study personnel and clinical trial monitors and takes measures to ensure that his staff of one technician and several on-call pharmacists are prepared to perform functions such as maintaining accurate inventory/dispensing logs, and blinding/randomizing subjects in an appropriate manner when called upon to do so.

started working at the pharmacy August 2006 as an intern and then challenged the California State Board of Pharmacy by taking the Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. I got certified and licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in May 2007. That is when I started working as the full time Pharmacy Technician at IDS. Upon the new semester of school I had to cut my hours to 3 days a week in order to attend my classes. Currently I am the full time Technician again and still going to school to eventually become a pharmacist and in the future go to med school.
